A rich history...
The Alrewas & District Agricultural & Horticultural Society held
it's first show in 1879. It was formed to promote improvement in the
breeding and rearing of livestock and of the agricultural and
horticultural implements - encouraging industry in agriculture and
horticulture by holding an annual Show. It has been held each
year except for during the 1st World War, the Foot & Mouth
outbreak in 2001, and in the wettest summer on record in 2007.
The Show is now one of the largest single-
day shows in the country, often referred
to as 'Little Royal' - and today reflects the
changing patterns of agriculture. The
Showfunctions through the generous
support of the local farming community.
The Show reflects the traditions of
agriculture and horticulture stretching
over the past 127 years whilst ensuring
a real family fun day out is provided for
everyone in the local community of
Alrewas and district!
